What Can Bridal BOTOX® Do for You?
While BOTOX® and other neurotoxins are a great way to treat wrinkles before your big day, they can’t treat every wrinkle, and sometimes a little tweaking may be needed to get the very best results. Keep reading to find out whether you need toxin or soft tissue fillers, and what the ideal timeline might be for your treatment!
Should I Get BOTOX® or Fillers Before My Wedding?
BOTOX®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® are all different types of neurotoxins. They work by preventing the muscle movements that lead to the formation of wrinkles. They are most commonly used for forehead lines, glabellar frown lines (aka, the 11s), and crow’s feet. They can also help with a gummy smile by weakening the muscles that lift the corners of the mouth. Over time, neurotoxins cause muscle atrophy, where the muscle becomes smaller from lack of use, and we can even use this effect to provide solutions to issues like square jaws, which are caused by strong masseter muscles.
Fillers add volume. They can be used to soften smile lines, create fuller cheeks, strengthen the jawline, plump up lips, and smooth under eye circles.
When Should I Get BOTOX® Before My Wedding?
If you’re new to neurotoxins, don’t wait until right before your wedding to have your first treatment. It can take a couple of treatments to adjust your results until they’re perfect, and since neurotoxins like Dysport® and BOTOX® last three to four months, that means that your first treatment should be at least six to eight months before the big day.
If you’ve already had neurotoxins in the past, or have been through some test treatments, get your wedding-day BOTOX® at least two weeks before the big day. This will give it time to completely take effect and for any bruising to fade.
What Other Beauty Treatments Should I Consider?
The best treatments to consider before your wedding largely depend on your goals and the problems you’re facing. Options will also depend on the amount of time you have. For example, BBL or IPL laser treatments can fade brown spots and erase spider veins, but most people need two to three treatments for optimal results, which are done about six weeks apart. The good news is that you’ll see a significant improvement after a single treatment, so if you only have a couple months before your wedding, you can still see a huge improvement in your skin!
Laser peels smooth the surface of the skin. They involve downtime of several days, so plan accordingly. In the short-term, your skin will look smoother and brighter. But if you do a peel that stimulates collagen formation, such as Halo or Fraxel, you’ll want to give yourself four to six months for collagen to build. If you only have a few weeks before the big day, a light laser peel or chemical peel will leave skin a little softer and brighter, without much downtime. Laser treatments can also clear up stubborn acne, by killing inflammatory bacteria and shrinking sebaceous glands.
What’s the Best Timeline for Skincare Before My Wedding?
Getting on a good skincare regimen is foundational for any anti-aging treatments you do, but switching up your skincare routine can temporarily make skin more prone to breakouts, so don’t make any sudden changes within a few weeks of your wedding day.
Skincare won’t create drastic improvements in your skin, but it can decrease oiliness or dryness, as well as prevent breakouts. If you have melasma (that patchy hyperigmentation that often shows up during pregnancy), starting a prescription skin care regimen can make a drastic improvement in the evenness of your skin tone in only a couple months. This can also be combined with laser or chemical peels for even better results!
