You may also take a pain reliever or antihistamine if you experience itching or pain. Do not rub the area or exfoliate and avoid harsh surfactants like shampoo to the face. Only use gentler cleansers and follow with a barrier protective occlusive agent like Aquaphor. You will need this for around 10 days post-procedure. It’s best to not let the treated areas dry out! You’ll also need to avoid sun exposure and diligently use SPF, as well as avoid intense exercise and sweating for the two weeks following. It’s best to avoid makeup, as well.
Most patients are fine to return to work at any time during the two weeks after treatment. Not all patients heal at the same speed, and recovery is more like a sunburn so patients can gauge their own comfort levels.
